Is anyone shocked that Barack Obama is getting blamed for Andrew Breitbart's death?

That should read is anyone sane shocked? A story of crazy people gone wild!  Perhaps it was his own hate and racism that killed him!  I wonder how he is explaining those character defects along with his habit of "bearing false witness" to God right now?-Mem

It was, to say the least, inevitable. Hours after the death of Andrew Breitbart was announced on Thursday, his passing gave birth to the newest conspiracy theory. If you couldn’t guess who many are already blaming for his death - it's Barack Obama.

A Message To My Friends....

I know that many of my friends on FB and Twitter are probably wondering if I have gone insane.  The answer to that would be, temporarily! Many of my postings after Kevin died were filled with anger and bitterness and then I hit a low where I was no longer angry, just sad.  I just haven't had it in me to fight anymore.  Talking politics was the way Kevin and I started our mornings over a cup of coffee.  Without him, it didn't seem important anymore.

I have spent most of my time these past months sitting on the back porch staring out onto the property.  (It is still hard for me to believe that almost a half a year has passed, it still feels like yesterday) Asking why, crying a lot and trying to find a glimpse of Kev in the sky, the tree's, the animals or anything around me.  I have spent most of my time trying to wipe out the memory of that last day, the guilt, the sadness, the unbelief and the horrible pain it left in my heart.

I know there will come a time when I feel like blogging again...when I feel like fighting again....Mem

Sometimes I have to let someone else voice the words for me because sometimes words are still too painful to speak.....

It's been about four months now since my husband Kevin died and I still relive that moment over and over again in my mind.  I think back to a time when life didn't seem so difficult and to a man that had done everything right as a father, husband and as an American.  He worked hard throughout his adult life, paying taxes, paying into SSI and building a retirement fund for when he grew old.  He gave to the poor, helped his neighbors, took care of his aging father and did right by and loved his daughter Lauren as she grew to be a woman.  He loved and helped my children and was a good grandfather to Selah, a good son, brother and an amazing friend to everyone including me.

 Overall, researchers said American adults age 64 and younger who lack health insurance have a 40 percent higher risk of death than those who have coverage.

Kevin, Since you've been gone I have had a huge, empty hole in my heart. Last night I fell into it and I cried...again... Everyday I fall into the darkness of that hole and by the time I have pulled myself out the night has fallen and I have forgotten what it is to see the light of day.  Someday I will fill that hole with memories but for now...I just want to breath again! ♥ Mem

We Loved Halloween

I wanted to write something to say thank you for all the support, love and kind words I have gotten from my friends, our friends.

I appreciate the calls, emails, best wishes and I apologize to those of you who have called, only to get the answering machine.  I just can't talk right now and I struggle between the tears to breath so please know that I have listened to your kindness and thoughts and someday I will answer the phone again, someday I will write about politics again but today, I need to grieve.

For those of you who are still a bit in the dark, my husband Kevin was only 53 years old and he had a massive heart attack late Wednesday afternoon.  He passed away Saturday afternoon at 4:20 (That would have made him smile)   Someday I will be able to talk about this in detail and I will share what I feel attributed to this as well as why it had gone this far.  For me it has so much to do with what the Republican Party has done to us and I will never forgive them but I ask that everyone forgive my anger right now because it is more with great sadness and broken heart that I am writing this today.

For now, I just need to find a way to live without the most important part of my heart... my life...my forever-Mem

Shameless Sarah Palin Exploits the Death of Ted Stevens for Self Promotion

Shortly after it was announced that former US Sen. Ted Stevens had passed away in a plane crash in Alaska, Sarah Palin took to her Facebook page to offer words of condolence for her political mentor. In fact she used few words of condolence, and instead used Stevens to defend her $500 million theft of taxpayer money a.k.a. the natural gas pipeline.

Palin’s Facebook tribute started off well, “It’s with great sadness that Todd and I hear the reports coming in of Senator Ted Stevens’ passing in the plane crash near Dillingham. In our land of towering mountains and larger than life characters, none were larger than the man who in 2000 was voted “Alaskan of the Century.” This decorated World War II pilot was a warrior and a true champion of Alaska.” Read More....

Now comes the history of Sarah Palin! Will she throw you under the bus as she did her children and employees? Hell yes! Will she use Ted Steven's then scrub his endorsement when it looks like it might hurt her? Hell yes! Here is the proof!

I would also like to add that as an ex-republican there was a time I greatly admired this man. In time I began to realize that I did not agree with any republican politics. With this being said I am saddened for his families loss and that of Alaska. I know that he did fight hard for that state and my thoughts go out to his family as well as other families who lost those they love in this tragic event.~Mem

REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT ON THE PASSING OF SENATOR EDWARD M. KENNEDY

THE PRESIDENT: I wanted to say a few words this morning about the passing of an extraordinary leader, Senator Edward Kennedy.

Over the past several years, I've had the honor to call Teddy a colleague, a counselor, and a friend. And even though we have known this day was coming for some time now, we awaited it with no small amount of dread.

Since Teddy's diagnosis last year, we've seen the courage with which he battled his illness. And while these months have no doubt been difficult for him, they've also let him hear from people in every corner of our nation and from around the world just how much he meant to all of us. His fight has given us the opportunity we were denied when his brothers John and Robert were taken from us: the blessing of time to say thank you -- and goodbye.

The outpouring of love, gratitude, and fond memories to which we've all borne witness is a testament to the way this singular figure in American history touched so many lives. His ideas and ideals are stamped on scores of laws and reflected in millions of lives -- in seniors who know new dignity, in families that know new opportunity, in children who know education's promise, and in all who can pursue their dream in an America that is more equal and more just -- including myself.

The Kennedy name is synonymous with the Democratic Party. And at times, Ted was the target of partisan campaign attacks. But in the United States Senate, I can think of no one who engendered greater respect or affection from members of both sides of the aisle. His seriousness of purpose was perpetually matched by humility, warmth, and good cheer. He could passionately battle others and do so peerlessly on the Senate floor for the causes that he held dear, and yet still maintain warm friendships across party lines.

And that's one reason he became not only one of the greatest senators of our time, but one of the most accomplished Americans ever to serve our democracy.

His extraordinary life on this earth has come to an end. And the extraordinary good that he did lives on. For his family, he was a guardian. For America, he was the defender of a dream.

I spoke earlier this morning to Senator Kennedy's beloved wife, Vicki, who was to the end such a wonderful source of encouragement and strength. Our thoughts and prayers are with her, his children Kara, Edward, and Patrick; his stepchildren Curran and Caroline; the entire Kennedy family; decades' worth of his staff; the people of Massachusetts; and all Americans who, like us, loved Ted Kennedy.

News Orgs Investigate Possibly Deadly McCain '64 Car Crash

For the past two months, a major American magazine and an allied news service have been engaged in a legal battle with the United States Navy over records that they believe show that John McCain once was involved in an automobile accident that injured or, perhaps, killed another individual.

Vanity Fair magazine and the National Security News Service claim to have knowledge "developed from first-hand sources" of a car crash that involved then-Lt. McCain at the main gate of a Virginia naval base in 1964, according to legal filings. The incident has been largely, if not entirely, kept from the public. And in documents suing the Navy to release pertinent information, lawyers for the NS News Service allege that a cover-up may be at play.

"Plaintiffs have also obtained documents showing that law enforcement officers were ordered back to the accident scene to retrieve personal physical effects. The Navy has never publicly acknowledged this information," one document reads. "This request involves federal government activity, as it addresses what may be an attempt by the Navy to protect by concealment the involvement of a former Navy officer, sitting Senator and Presidential candidate in a serious incident involving the injury or death of another human being."

The first request for information concerning duty assignment logs to Portsmouth Naval Hospital -- where McCain was allegedly brought after the accident -- came in the form of a Freedom of Information Act request on August 28, 2008. The Navy acknowledged receipt of the request and advised that it had located the relevant information a few weeks later, only to deny the FOIA on grounds that it didn't prove an "imminent threat to the life or physical safety of an individual" or satisfy the criteria of "a breaking news story of general public interest."

"The patient admission record logs that you seek are exempt from release," wrote G.E. Lattin, Deputy Assistant Judge Advocate General, "as information in personnel and medical files, as well as similar personal information in other files, that if disclosed to a requestor, other than the actual person in which the information is pertaining to or next of kin, would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy."

NS News Service and Vanity Fair appealed the decision and asked for expedited treatment of the case, as the end of the presidential election loomed. But the Navy denied that request as well.

"It appears to be a deliberate refusal to provide clearly releasable information concerning assignments to Portsmouth Naval Hospital," wrote legal representatives for the two news organizations. "Allowing the Navy to extend its time to respond beyond a date when the documentary facts of this matter would be available for public consideration prior to the national election on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 would violate the spirit, as well as the provisions of the FOIA."

Staff for National Security News Service and the company's lawyer both refused to discuss the proceedings. And there are only parcels of information concerning the story that can be gleamed from the court documents.

At a minimum it seems clear that Vanity Fair and NS News Service have launched an investigation "disclosing first-hand witnesses' recollection of an automobile accident in which then Lt. John S. McCain III was involved. Those witnesses specifically recall McCain's assignment to that [hospital] facility with the other person involved in the accident." This episode in McCain's life has, it seems, not been made public, and the plaintiffs suggest that the Navy may be attempting to actively restrict information about the incident.

"The subject matter of the documents is a matter of current exigency to the American public," reads a document filed by legal representatives for the news service, "because the requester is preparing a current news report addressing whether the Navy continues to conceal the involvement of a Navy officer in a serious automobile accident in July 1964."
