Unhappy Anniversary: Republicans Have Blocked The American Jobs Act For One Year

On September 8, 2011 — one year ago tomorrow — President Obama laid out a series of policy proposals known collectively as the American Jobs Act. The plan included stimulus spending in the form of immediate infrastructure investments, tax credits for working Americans and employers to encourage consumer spending and job growth, and efforts to shore up state and local budgets to prevent further layoffs of teachers, firefighters, police officers, and other public safety officials.

Yesterday, President Obama spoke from the Brent Spence bridge over the Ohio River about the vital connection between jobs and infrastructure repair.¹ The Brent Spence bridge has been rated functionally obsolete and unsafe, it carries nearly twice the traffic it was designed to handle, and earlier this year, chunks of concrete fell from its upper level.² And it isn't the only essential piece of infrastructure that's falling apart.³

I think that it was quite obvious last night which party lacks interest in the America People and those who are without jobs!  The President made it very clear that he is proposing a bill that won't cost any money, will put Americans to work now and still the tea party republicans will work to destroy the President and this Country as they continue to fight for only the wealthy! (You could see it in their expressions, their lack of compassion)  The President as much as dared the tea party republicans to say NO to the plight of the American People: "KNOW THIS! The next election is fourteen months away and the people who sent us here, the people who hired us to work for them, they don’t have the luxury of waiting fourteen months!" - President Barack Obama
