(Waukesha County Democratic Party)On Tuesday night, I received a voice message from someone in the office of Clerk Kathy Nickolaus informing me of a Wednesday canvass meeting, which I returned the next morning and said I would be able to report into the canvass by noon, which I did.

BREAKING NEWS: Wisconsin Democrats just announced that local activists submitted over 100% of the signatures needed to "recall" Republican state senator Dan Kapanke from office!
After local officials certify the signatures, a new election will be scheduled for Kapanke's seat. Today's news will send shockwaves throughout Wisconsin, and it gives huge momentum to efforts in other Senate districts to gather recall signatures.

 I shake my head everyday.  I listen to the republican tea followers and the religious right as they fight for their freedom.  The freedom to follow like sheep the bidding of the wealthy.  Those in congress enjoy health benefits and a huge salary (paid in part by our tax dollars) and yet have convinced their sheeple that what is good for the goose is NOT good for the gander.

The right wing talking heads of faux and radio drugsters like Limbaugh spend 24/7 preaching under the guise of freedom to fight big government, fight the Unions and yet they live a life of wealth.

I had posted this along with another article on my blog but feel like it is something that deserves a post of it's own since many people don't seem to realize the importance of Unions!-Mem

Unions play a crucial role in America’s public and community life. Not only do they give workers a voice on the job and help negotiate fair benefits and wages for their members, but they also use their political and economic resources to raise the floor for everyone who works for a living.

Unions, by fighting for higher standards for workers, businesses, families, the environment, and public health and safety, have helped to build the middle class and make sure the economy works for everyone.

May 1933: Hitler Abolishes Unions

On May 2nd, 1933, the day after Labor day, Nazi groups occupied union halls and labor leaders were arrested.  Trade Unions were outlawed by Adolf Hitler, while collective bargaining and the right to strike was abolished.  This was the beginning of a consolidation of power by the fascist regime which systematically wiped out all opposition groups, starting with unions, liberals, socialists, and communists using Himmler’s state police.

Madison – Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) sent the following letter to Governor Scott Walker after secret tapes surfaced in which the governor apparently thought he was speaking to a campaign supporter, but instead was speaking to a reporter.

A copy of the letter is attached.

The text of the letter follows:

Dear Governor Walker,

You Have Awakened From A Tea Colored Sleep!

For all those who are awakening from a tea colored sleep, know that I have been there and your fears are only what you choose to keep.  You won't regret opening your eyes, adjusting them to the light knowing that darkness is only a part of the night.  The lion has been awakened and he has restored our voice.  It is we the people who must stand and make a choice.   The right has taken your life under the guise of freedom and invoking fear, now it's time to show them you have awaken and your mind is clear....You have awakened from the tea colored sleep....they can no longer drown your dreams with lies and deceit   Yes, the old lion has awakened with a roar of reality and a will to fight...Just know that every real American will be standing with you in solidarity with each morning sun and each ending night! -Mem ©
