Do you ever get the feeling that Tea Party Republicans see the phrase “Ignorance Is Bliss” as a Mission Statement?

Tea Party Jesus

For the record, I was raised in a very religious home.  (Same religion as Palin) We went to church every Sunday morning, every Sunday night and every Wednesday night.  I was also raised in a Republican home.  With that said, my parents never hated on anyone.  They took strangers into their home all the time, fed the poor and helped widows.  In other words my parents practiced the teachings of Christ.

I no longer go to church and am not a religious person as well as I am no longer a Republican.  I do not believe in "organized religion".  Religion is man made, not God made.  Religion is a form of control!  Religion is legalism and I do not choose to be controlled or told how I should believe, feel or worship.  Most of all religion is a tool for the religious right, the republican party and  the tea party!   Their platform is Fox News.

As I have stated before, it is now very hard to tell the difference between the words of the religious right like Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity, Mike Huckabee, Glen Beck, The Tea Party and this man.

When all is said and done, will history repeat itself?  Will the followers and supporters claim they didn't know?
We didn't know." This was what the German civilian population would say over and over again about the German concentration camps in the coming months after Liberation by the Allied Forces in 1945.
Today I consider myself a spiritual person.  My church is on my back porch (and no I cannot see Russia) in my car, by a stream or wherever God and I might be.

This is an article I came across from the The Texas Observer and felt it was worth sharing in my scrapbook.  It is spot on with it's message about those on the right who claim to be Christians. A message I have chosen to share with those of my friends and family members who are Christians and who are still Republicans.-Mem

Why the Tea Party is Un-Christian
by Katherine Dobay
Published on: Tuesday, August 03, 2010

Perhaps nothing is as demoralizing as religious hypocrisy; it destroys not only perpetrators but witnesses. Every time a non-believer observes adherents acting in contradiction to the precepts of their faith, the non-believer is only strengthened in his resistance to God's call. We are not talking about the usual human failings but outrageous, repugnant, destructive violations. The scandal of false Christianity forms an insurmountable stumbling block for some who are being called to conversion. For this reason I am exposing the hypocrisy of Tea Party members who claim they are defending Christianity--a way of life they don’t follow.

Nowhere in the New Testament does Jesus exhort his followers to be nationalistic.  All that Jesus said regarding the political state was that we must pay our taxes.  Believers ought instead to be patriots of heaven, as Paul explains in Philippians 3: 20 "For our citizenship is in heaven..." Nor did Jesus instruct his followers to stem the tide of what the world considers progress by force, but to be set apart as pure examples of godliness. For the end times we are told only to prepare for Jesus' return by keeping ourselves in fit spiritual condition. In fact, Jesus reserved his direst warnings for members of the church themselves, whom he warns against false teaching and ear-tickling; even love of country can be an idol or a kind of heresy if placed before love of God and fellow man.

Jesus never delegated the authority to judge the nations to any of his followers.  Instead, he promised to come back and sort out sheep from goat. Jesus clearly states that only those of his children who do his will, that is: feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked and visit prisoners and the sick, will receive the reward of eternal life. The good news we are told to spread in the Great Commission is not the gospel of economic doctrine or political philosophy, but the message that we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ. Some of the fruits we can expect when we do God's will include love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. That sure doesn't sound like the Tea Party rally to me! When we disobey God's will in favor of our own however, the results can be anger, greed, division, strife, gossip, ugly speech, hatefulness, and every manner of uncleanness.

We have seen some fruits of the Tea Party movement which many consider a dangerous faction exploiting tough economic times and the fears of suffering people to prosecute a political agenda. In seeking to control and manipulate a society they claim to be "saving", they are only succeeding in tearing it apart. Individuals in the Tea Party who claim to be Christian have a lot of explaining to do, for biblical teaching is full of calls to submit to secular authority, trust in God, and to pay taxes. "Pay everyone what he is owed: if you owe the tax collector, pay your taxes; if you owe the revenue collector, pay revenue; if you owe someone respect, pay him respect; if you owe someone honor, pay him honor" (see Romans 13: 1-7).  No exceptions were allowed. Paul did not say to pay only as much as you feel is right.  He did not say you could feel sorry for yourself to the point of open rebellion. He did not say submit only to those authorities of whom you approve, but said to give respect where it is due. The president of the United States is owed the respect of all Americans.

If conservative Christians are concerned about a world which seems to be falling apart, their duty in obedience to Christ is to pray, fast, be holy, serve others and spread the Gospel. We are to begin with ourselves. We are to evangelize our own families, churches, workplaces and immediate communities. We are to pray the prayer of the humble tax-collector (reviled then as now) "O God! Have mercy on me, sinner that I am!" and not the prayer of the proud Pharisee, "O God! I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity--greedy, dishonest, immoral, or like this tax-collector!" ("Thank God I am not lazy like those people on welfare; that I am so hard-working and deserving of all my riches!"). Isn't it ironic that early Christians under pagan Roman rule flourished in holiness and martyrdom, yet today some Christians manage to feel persecuted while living in the greatest democracy in history and enjoying material blessings undreamed of by their distant kin? Jesus warns them:  "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but everyone who humbles himself will be exalted" (Luke 18: 10-14).

I had to add this news that came out today:

David Lynch, described as a major figure in America's underground racist movement, was shot along with his girlfriend in their Sacramento home early Wednesday morning.
This is a huge topic on my FB right now and this is my response to people in this Country who are saying this man is a hero...a patriot.  Many of these people claim to be Christians.
I guess "Christians" who have joined in the tea party racism and hate would best understand it this way...I don't think they like the word Karma....GALATIANS 6: 7-9 7: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap! -Mem

  4. The Tea Party is NOT a religious party. It is made up up of Dems, Reps, and Ind, Christians, Jews, Atheists, and Muslims who want the Government to live within it's means. Oh yeah, Glenn Beck, the guy you hate so much, that Tea Party guy, belongs to a cult. Your obvious bias against Christianity is bleeding through here, when you have take two unconnected things,(Tea Party, Christianity) and try to throw them in a hateful lump together.

  5. Since you like to degrade other's beliefs, I'm sure you'll like this post.

  6. Stupidity you really need to do some research and turn off Faux! The Tea Party is the Koch Brothers. Bought and paid for. It has nothing to do with the government living within it's means. It has to do with the rich eliminating the poor and the middle class. It has to do with taking our freedoms away under the guise of "freedom". If so called Christians are going to hate in the name of God then I will call them on it. If you are going to spout faux lies...then I will call you on it!

  7. So D. I get it...you have a admiration for Sarah Palin and you don't think she had ANYTHING to do with Tuscon and what happened even though she has invoked violence through her words since day one that she stepped onto the platform for John McCain. As a human being I find those pictures on your blog offensive and I also find post that I see on Sarah Palins FB offensive ...you can find screen shots right here on my blog...all you have to do is look...like for instance the little nine year old girl that was killed was no big deal because she would have just grown up to be a liberal anyway....funny how Sarah Palin never bothered to take those kinds of comments down but comments about her came down within seconds...you keep on defending the hateful right...and searching for hate from the left because I'm sure you will find some on both sides but when you get out of denial and your obsession with the ice queen then maybe you'll find the time to search both sides. I've been on both sides...I know the rights play book like the back of my hand so...you don't fool me with your self-righteousness....the right lives to hate...and faux lives to lie...to the sheeple...and some people will fall for anything...right?

  8. By the way Dan-anyone who names their blog liberal stupidity has NO right to talk about civility. You are the face of hypocrisy! So when you say (as you did in the "hard to tell the difference" post) that I should be ashamed of myself...you should take a look in the mirror!

  9. LS..may not be a religious organization but so many present themselves as God Fearing Christians. From there they want others to believe that their belief is for the government to live within its means...and they back up their beliefs with the use of the Bible. Now if you think I'm wrong and I'm sure that you will, I can give you a list of your leader and reigning queen Sarah Palin and her greatest hits of Biblical misquotes and misunderstandings.
BTW, there is nothing wrong with the country living within it's means. I'm not paying my taxes so others can keep more of their money. There is nothing wrong with a sliding tax scale. Why? A number of reasons that I do not have time to list but let me make this one thing clear. The higher up the tax bracket the more ways there are to avoid paying what you rightfully own. The higher income brackets can afford the $500.00 a hour lawyers and accountants to fun creative methods of helping the client from paying taxes on their money. Someone making 50,000.00 a year cannot do those things.
As a free society our government cannot live within it's means when we give billons of dollars in tax breaks to mufti bullion dollar companies and expect the middle class to make up the short fall. Sensible people know this, why those dorks in Congress can't get it is another story.

  10. Pat thanks for being the voice of reason. LS made a comment in another post that just set me off when I had just come from a right wing blog where people were so hateful and threatening to others on the blog as well as our President that my hubby actually made a call to the secret service. 95% of all of the profiles list themselves as "Christians" on this site. I spend a lot of time searching sites, getting info and most right wing sites are this way. FB is full of "tea party" members who show on their profiles that they are "Christians" and then they have profile pictures that say "I am the mob" They are proud of their hateful mob mentality. I live in a town (small) where there are 16 churches and most of the members are tea party republicans. WITH that said LS I am quite sure that you are WRONG about ANY democrats belonging to the tea party...you are blowing in the wind on that one! I have said it many times and I will say it again...You know you are a TEANUT when you are losing your home, your car, no food on the table and no health insurance but you will fight your butt off to keep the rich wealthy!

  11. Well you're entitled to your own opinions, but not to your own facts. The Tea Party is a loosely organized, many times unaffiliated, group of people who are concerned about Government spending. There is no religious mandate. And there is no HATE. That's just incredible. I have several Democrat friends who are Tea party folks. They are pro-choice as well...

Mem, I agree that hatred is disgusting wherever it pops it's head up. I don't defend right-wing idiots who are hating and calling for violence anymore than I do liberals.

I still fight the mocking of Christianity to be crude and base. I don't blaspheme other's Gods and don't find it acceptable for the left to do it either.
