Matthew 19:24- "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

Why President Obama is more like Jesus Christ than any Republican

By Robert Sobel

In American politics today, religion has seemed to find its way into the conversation more than it's intended to. Somehow over the years the Republican party has hijacked the Christian faith, the most popular religion in American, and has used the religion when they see the need in order to fit their political ideology. The biggest problem with what the Republican party has done is that the message they praise is not the message they preach.

"The hard right has no interest in religion except to manipulate it." (Update)

Update 3-1-2011 I have tried to tell people for YEARS that Billy Graham was a Democrat, only to be called crazy and a liar by the "right wing Christians" and now here it is...out of his own mouth.   How many times has the tea party republicans referred to Democrats as heathens, atheist, the devil? What say you now?
Couric: I read, though, that you're a Democrat.  Is that true?
Graham: Yes.  I am.
When the truth is spoken! Will so called Christians of 2012 that support the republican party hear this message? We shall see....I'm thinking not because they have been fed so many lies by the right and succumbed to the fear fed to them by the religious right that they are blinded to the truth.-Mem

Gabby Was Right, Palin Is Wrong-by Alan Grayson

Dear Memory,

When I opened my web browser yesterday, at yahoo.com, there was Sarah Palin, smiling at me.

“Oh, God,” I said to myself, “what has she done now?”

The headline was “Palin Defends ‘Blood Libel’”. That’s interesting, I thought. What else might Palin be defending? Cannibalism, maybe?

Well, it turned out to be a report on Palin’s disjointed remarks on Sean Hannity’s show, regarding the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. I then watched the report. Let me summarize it for you:

1/15/11

America's Wall Of Shame

Tracy Knauss
America's Wall of shame is dominated by hate, violence, racism and bigotry, which culminated in the shooting of Congresswoman Giffords in Arizona. This wall of hate holds America's destiny. If we cannot grow beyond the poisonous vitriol that spews from its confines, we will be unable to work together on our economic recovery to create meaningful jobs to stimulate and grow our nation to meet the needs of a new competitive America.

Is this a shock to anyone?  The minute Palin stepped onto the platform she started demonizing Barack Obama and then Fox, Beck, Hannity, Republican Party, The Corporate backed Tea Party (thugs) and Limbaugh jumped on the band wagon,  fueling the hate, fear and violence!  They should have gone after these people in the beginning, (Starting with Palin and John McCain.  Then Joe Wilson from S.C.)  They should have paid for the consequences of their actions. Instead they all get a free pass and the Country is given the message and a green light that "it's okay because he's "black"!-Mem

The real story of the 2010 election
By most accounts, the Democrats stand to lose seats in both the House and Senate this coming Tuesday. There are, of course, a wide range of explanations for why this is the case.

However, in endeavoring to explain how the GOP has seemingly managed to reverse its political fortunes in such a short amount of time, media outlets would be remiss not to mention one of the most important factors.

Taking a Stand against Sarah Palin’s Jealous Contempt For Barack Obama

Another Great Article by Sarah Jones

Sarah Palin's Bitter Rage and Contempt

For the last, oh my Gosh, almost TWO years since Palin hit the national scene, conservatives have been salivating over the Democrats’ alleged fear of Sarah Palin. Striking “fear” into their “enemies” is part of the entire worldview of these folks. Everything is seen as a war, a power structure of over and under, best exemplified by Palin’s selling herself as a hunter and someone who just got things done in Alaska (contrary to her actual record and her quitting of her job). While I reject this worldview, it’s important to note that their largest strategic failure is not their worldview, but their misinterpretation of the Left’s outrage over Palin.

We don’t fear her. We fear for our country if she were to be anywhere near in charge of it.

The worldview of the Left is based on more egalitarian and inclusive ideals; The Left wants to negotiate with other countries, use diplomacy and strategy before force, but not INSTEAD of force, and this is nuance is so often misunderstood by the black and white world view of the Right, the Left values intelligence (and this need not come from books, but from a curiosity about the world and other cultures) and a gathering of information before making decisions.

Sarah Palin is clearly a knee-jerk responder; someone who doesn’t value listening or learning, but instead goes in guns a blazin’. Sarah also brings with her a history of anger, bitterness, and misplaced and abused power.

Sarah Palin a dictator who is too willfully ignorant to understand that her tactics are dangerous to the national security of this country. A perfect example of this was during Palin’s time as mayor of Wasilla. Palin was confronted by Wasilla City Council member Nick Carney, a now estranged former mentor of Palin’s who actually picked her to run for Mayor of Wasilla, regarding her despotic style of management. Carney, recounting Palin’s illegal and lavish expenditures on redecorating her office, recalled, “I told her it was against the law to make such a large expenditure without the council taking a vote. She (Sarah Palin) said, ‘I’m the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can’t.’”

As is typical among the incompetent, Palin is a rabid back-seat driver who can’t seem to let a day go by without desperately inserting herself into the national dialogue, in a transparent attempt to both equate herself with the President and get his attention. President Obama had Palin’s number from day one, and he’s never given her the attention she so craves. He’s dismissed her with a respectful nod, rising above Palin’s crude tactics.

Palin uses drama and conflict to gin up support for herself. She isn’t actually running on ideas and can’t run on her history of governing, so she has to run on feelings. She stirs up the Tea Bagging base by getting them angry. They read her anger and rage and contempt as strength, but it really comes from weakness. It’s all Palin has.

Palin uses her contempt to mask her fear of the Press. She uses her anger to mask her envy of the President. She uses her rage to mask her disgust that a black man beat her (this is how she sees it, never mind that she was not running against Obama).

If you watch Sarah Palin’s face in any speech or TV interview, she gives herself away with a thousand micro-expressions of rage, contempt and disgust. Micro expressions such as:

Envy: Eyes staring; mouth corners turned down; nose turned in sneer; chin jutting.
Disgust: Eyes and head turned away; nostrils flared; nose twisted in sneer; mouth closed, possibly with tongue protruding; chin jutting.
Anger: Eyes wide and staring; eyebrows pulled down (especially in middle); wrinkled forehead; flared nostrils; mouth flattened or clenched teeth bared; jutting chin, red face.
Contempt: Curled lips and wrinkled nose.

Palin often manages to plaster a fake smile over her predominantly negative emotions, but this only makes her less trustworthy to the astute viewer who senses the disconnect between her emotions and her smile. When her expressions aren’t giving her away, her pointed fingers jabbing outward do. And if that fails, there are always her words.

Palin consistently uses negative emotion words, which are all indicators of a guilty conscience. Sarah invented the Death Panel lie (which was actually a confession of the very real Death Panels in Alaska wherein over 250 people died under Palin’s Medicare program waiting for care — the only state Medicare program to ever be shut down by the feds for incompetence). Sarah came out with “pallin’ around with terrorists” when in fact she was sleeping with a secessionist.

Palin uses words to incite fear, anger and rage in her followers. They connect with Sarah because of her anger, not in spite of it. In a very real sense, many of the accusations against Obama and the Democrats that we hear from Republicans right now are confessions of their own reckless crusade of deregulation. And their accusations are more often than not couched in negative emotional words like “rape” and “Hitler”.

Democrats and frankly, Independents as well as thinking Republicans, worry about Sarah Palin coming anywhere near our White House. Not only is Sarah Palin incompetent and lazy, but she’s also a demagogue so full of negative emotions she would endanger this country every time she opened her mouth. As much as George W Bush was a cause for concern given his emotional make up, I have to say that Sarah Palin makes Bush seem sane, reasonable and smart. She has the temperament of a jealous, angry Junior High “mean girl” and she is clearly incapable of rising above her own emotions.

And that’s not OK in any adult, let alone a political leader. It’s irresponsible of the Right to champion this person who has been called a “sociopathic narcissist” by her own mentors and supporters as well as being referred to as “Frightening, Dangerous, Mentally Limited” by the McCain staff, as a possible leader for this country.

So what the Right senses as fear of Palin is actually fear for our country and fear that the Conservatives will once again endanger this country by electing another Fascist-styled dictator who just so happens to also, too be a war hawk and a religious extremist. We’re not afraid of her because she’s a powerful Conservative leader or a good Christian. She is neither and the Right will not be taken seriously until they come clean about what exactly they stand for.

We’re afraid of what she does to this country because she allows her bitter, jealous contempt of our President to come before the good of this nation.

16 HORRIBLE THINGS THAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE REPUBLICANS GET BACK INTO POWER !

Let me spell it out

Exponentially more offshore drilling and raping of our natural resources with nothing but apologies to the big corporations as they ruin the environment.

No significant environmentally-conscientious energy legislation ever
.
Creationism not evolution taught as science in every K-12 school in this country.

Texas-style rewrites of American history gone national.

Glenn Beck would have a cabinet position and Rush Limbaugh would be the new White House Press Secretary.

No drawdowns, to timelines, just more troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

No rules of the road for Wall Street and financial institutions.

Lower taxes for the rich.

Repeal of health care reform.

Elimination of Social Security.

More ultra conservative Supreme court Judicial appointment — which will inevitably lead to the repeal of Roe v. Wade. This will cause the unintended and unwanted births of thousands of children each year who will be abused, neglected and impoverished.

The passage of a new Patriot Act. This one designed specifically to weed out “anti-American” Americans. Bill authored by Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachmann.

Drastically scaled back government spending to boost the economy, huge increases in government spending on new military conflicts and 20th century military technology (like massive Cold War era fighter planes that are absolutely useless except that they make the military brass as giddy as school girls).

The possibility that someone even dumber that George W. Bush (Sarah Palin) will occupy the White House.

No repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. In fact, there might be a constitutional amendment to ban all gays, even the hidden ones, from joining the military.

A 24-foot wall on the U.S. Mexican border and 24-hour brigade of armed guards posted 12-feet apart with orders to shoot anything that moves, costing about $200 billion per year. Contract awarded to Blackwater.

Color of Change is shrill by Dennis G.

In November voters will face a choice. It is not a Republican vs Democratic choice or even a liberal vs conservative choice.

Nope.

It is a bit more primal than that.

In November we face a choice between the Confederate Party and modernity.

ConfederateGOP Logo

All around the globe we face a battle with reactionary forces that seek to pull society back to some imagined fantasy time that they define as “better”. Most of the time these Dark Ages Disciples wrap their lunacy in some cultish religious rhetoric that Jesus, Allah, Yahweh, Zoroaster, Indra or whoever blesses and mandates their insanity. But religious ideology is not the only meme these wackos embrace. Nationalism and political myths also motivate. And often the Nationalist myths are woven tightly with the religious myth into one big twisted blob of hate and madness. This fantasy world view animates and drive al-Qaeda and here in America it animates the Confederate Party.

The Confederate Party grew out of the Confederacy and their defeat in the Civil War. It is easier to split an atom with a butter knife than it is to separate the Confederacy from racism. Reconstruction almost killed the read more....

Jewish Dem Breaks Silence, Rips Lieberman: "Not His Finest Hour"

Sam Stein
Jewish Dem Breaks Silence, Rips Lieberman: 'Not His Finest Hour'

Sen. Joe Lieberman may have finally worn out his welcome within Washington D.C.'s Jewish Democrat community.

One of the foremost members of that group took the Connecticut Senator to task on Wednesday for his speech at the GOP convention, proclaiming that history would prove this moment to "not be Joe Lieberman's finest hour."

"I think what hit me strongest, was the irony," said Ira Forman, executive director of the National Jewish Democratic Council. "How ironic that Joe Lieberman was talking about reaching across the aisle and bipartisanship. Yet, if we are to believe the McCain spin machine Lieberman would be the vice presidential pick and yet there was no way the delegates would have accepted that because he's a Democrat. There was no bipartisanship there."

Forman went on. "At one point he said colleagues like Sen. Obama have cut off funds for our troops while on the battlefield. This attack is not the most honorable. He has said he has wants to go positive and that's what his persona has always been. 'I don't play negative politics.' That's who he professes to be and for a long time we believed it. As we look back upon this in the future this will not be Joe Lieberman's finest hour."

The comments are the first publicly aired criticism of Lieberman to come from the NJDC, ending what had been for over a year a noticeable silence on the Senator's advocacy for John McCain and drift towards Republican politics. Other prominent Jewish figures have not been so willing to bite their tongues. In an interview with the Huffington Post several weeks ago, Steve Rabinowitz, a prominent Jewish political consultant, discussed the personal and professional disenchantment he had felt with the rightward course Lieberman had taken.

"It was a dilemma for me when Joe lost his primary for Senate and I am a big partisan Democrat. And I'm mostly for Democrats. But I sucked it up and pretended to support him in the general election and he promised a million times that he would caucus with the Democrats that he would stay a Democrat. This thing that he is supporting McCain because he is friends, there are a million Senators who are good best friends and drinking buddies with folks from the other side of the aisle: they never endorse them for president, campaign for them, and trash their opponents. He really lost me with the McCain endorsement... I am phenomenally sad that he has done this."

Reached by phone the morning after Lieberman addressed the Republican convention in Minneapolis, Forman hinted at a similarly personal strain he felt towards his former ally.

"I don't know if this is the final straw," he said. "There is a certain reservoir of loyalty and respect that has been drawn upon. I do think that people might understand if not agree with your support of a friend. But the negative stuff, the spouting of the most twisted of partisan of line. I think people are going to say: hey, we disagree with this."

In his speech to the GOP throngs, Lieberman presented himself as a disenchanted Democrat with deep concerns over Barack Obama's foreign policy and lack of experience.

"Senator Obama is a gifted and eloquent young man who can do great things for our country in the years ahead. But eloquence is no substitute for a record -- not in these tough times," said the 2000 Democratic vice presidential nominee. "In the Senate he has not reached across party lines to get anything significant done, nor has he been willing to take on powerful interest groups in the Democratic Party."

The lines were not particularly sharp in the context of other attacks Lieberman has launched at Obama during the campaign. But because they were delivered before the Republican convention, they were particularly hard for Democrats to swallow. And when Lieberman subsequently went on to defend Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's experience and credentials -- a politician with whom, unlike McCain, he does not share close ties -- Forman took objection.

"The phrases that must have stuck in his throat were those when he criticized Obama's lack of experience," said the NJDC head. "'Gov Palin like McCain is a reformer we can believe in and count on.' He knows as well as the rest of us, the reform façade is a Potemkin Village. She was for the bridge to nowhere until it was politically untenable. She has lobbied for pork... If I were him that would be a hard line to force out."

Peggy Noonan, Mike Murphy Caught On Tape Disparaging Palin Choice: "It's Over," "Political Bullshit," "Gimm

"It's over," Noonan said.

When Chuck Todd asked her if this was the most qualified woman the Republicans could nominate, Noonan responded, "The most qualified? No. I think they went for this, excuse me, political bullshit about narratives. Every time the Republicans do that, because that's not where they live and that's not what they're good at, they blow it."

Murphy characterized the choices as "cynical" and "gimmicky."

PN: Saw Kay this morning.

CT: Yeah, she's never looked comfortable about this --

MM: They're all bummed out.

CT: Yeah, I mean is she really the most qualified woman they could have turned to?

PN: The most qualified? No! I think they went for this -- excuse me-- political bullshit about narratives --

CT: Yeah they went to a narrative.

MM: I totally agree.

PN: Every time the Republicans do that, because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at, they blow it.

MM: You know what's really the worst thing about it? The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical.

CT: This is cynical, and as you called it, gimmicky.

MM: Yeah.

Evangelical Politics?

I am so sick of “organized religion”. I was born and raised in organized religion and was even a Sunday school teacher at one point in my life. But just like John McCain, many Christians are phonies. I think actions speak much louder then words and the only action I see from John McShame is Dishonesty, Dirty Campaigning, Saying Whatever The People Want To Hear, Adulterer Who Left His First Wife And Three Kids For Cindy McCain, A Man Who Would Sell His Own Mom Down The River To Get What He Wants. He uses her to show how old he might get. For God's sake, the mans already old, how much older does he want to get? (now that’s ambition), The Worst Person In The World For The Veterans Rights, An Elitist Who Has More Money Then He Can Ever Spend and he has the nerve to attack Obama or anyone else! He is a poor excuse for a human being at this point, let alone presidential material. For all of you so called Christians who have been spreading rumors that Obama is the anti-christ, maybe you should read your Bible and stop interpreting it the way you want it to be. If you were really Christians and knew what the heck you were talking about then you would know that we wouldn’t even suspect the person of being the anti-christ, let alone being able to name him! Let’s see, I can remember a day when y’all said it was Kissinger, Regan and……..so on and so on! Find some spirituality instead of religion and then maybe you can come up with a mind of your own! Mem
