Do you ever get the feeling that Tea Party Republicans see the phrase “Ignorance Is Bliss” as a Mission Statement?

Mitt Romney, The Hollow Man TUESDAY, OCT 30, 2012 10:45 AM

He likens hurricane relief to cleaning up "rubbish and paper products" from a football field. Is he joking? -BY JOAN WALSH

It’s become a platitude to say that no one should be playing politics with Hurricane Sandy, but that’s silly. When the performance of government suddenly becomes a literal matter of life and death to many Americans, we ought to be thinking about what kind of government we want to have, and that involves politics.

The Truth-O-Meter Says:

Brown
"Hitler didn't want unions. Stalin didn't want unions. Mubarak didn't want independent unions. These autocrats in history don't want independent unions."

Franken: 'If Republicans Take Over Congress, They'll Implement A Truly Dangerous Agenda'

Las Vegas -- Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) last night told progressive activists and bloggers that they have a responsibility to stay engaged during the crucial midterm elections -- lest they allow Republicans to not just roll back the Obama administration's real gains, but enact an agenda he called "dangerous." Franken then acknowledged that it's a tough election year but, especially in Sen. Harry Reid's home state, Reid (D-NV) shouldn't be underestimated. Franken credited conservatives for being motivated to reverse the gains progressives have made over the past five years, pointing out that corporations have pledged $200 million during this election cycle and "one oilman, one guy, gave Karl Rove $1 million for attack ads." He warned participants that, in addition to all of that, the Citizens United decision -- the very mention of which earned boos from the crowd -- means that "corporations now spend unlimited amounts of money... can now spend unlimited sums of money directly attacking candidates who try to stand up to them." He pointed out that the Senate would be different without its current leadership and many of its progressive darlings -- and that the House would be different with Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) as speaker, a mention that also earned boos from the crowd. Franken acknowledged the frustration and disappointment of the crowd with the pace of change in the Senate, pointing out that he supported the public option, immigration reform and public financing of elections, too. THE UGLY SIDE OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

Breathtaking Ignorance Captured on Film at McCain/Palin Strongsville, Ohio Rally

At a McCain/Palin rally in Strongsville, Ohio today people were caught on tape calling Obama a "one man terror cell" and many who were asked if they thought he was a terrorist replied in the affirmative. The ignorance and hatred are palpable in this video clip. A MUST SEE!

Tim Russo at Blogger Interrupted captured the breathtaking ignorance that presides over most McCain/Palin rallies. The base is in rare hate-filled form. Tim captures it like no other blogger in Ohio does. He’s simply the best there is at this. There really is no wonder the crowds have turned into near lynch mobs. Between the rhetoric of the two candidates and the ignorance of the crowds, it would only take the slightest match to set off this powder keg of racial intolerance and religious fear mongering.
